Due to COVID-19, many everyday experiences we normally take for granted were closed this year (sporting events, concerts, amusement parks, etc), While this may have put a hold on heading out for holiday shopping excursions, fundraising events, and holiday parties, a grand tour of the lights around the city is still possible!
We know, now more than ever, that our community needs to have options for fun-filled, family holiday experiences. Our expert staff and drivers have done their research, and are happy to suggest places to go if you need help customizing the perfect light tour! We want to be a part of saving Christmas in Kansas City!!!

Country Club Plaza Lights
The Plaza Lighting Ceremony is NO LONGER A VIRTUAL ONLY EVENT! And will take place on November 24th from 5pm-8pm. The Plaza Lights are a historical stop chosen by almost every light tour in Kansas City. Thousands of lights shine across 15 blocks from November 24, 2022 to January 9th, 2023. Crown Center Christmas Tree
The Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Crown Center is a favorite annual tradition for many families. In 2022 the lighting ceremony has been designated to take place on November 25th at 5:30pm. The tree will remain lit and open for visitors from November 25th, 2022 to January 2nd, 2023. Christmas in the Park
The Christmas in the Park annual tradition offers more than 500,000 lights and 175 animated Christmas figures. The entire family will delight in the magic of this enchanting drive-thru winter wonderland… a gift to you from Jackson County! These lights will shine from November 23rd, 2022 to December 31st, 2022 from 5:30pm - 10:00pm Sunday to Thursday and 5:30pm - 11:00pm Friday and Saturday. See more information here.
Lee’s Summit Magic Tree
The Lee’s Summit Magic Tree is a staple for Christmas in Kansas City. Make sure your family visits the tree while you’re at Christmas in the Park! It’s perfect for holiday family photos… and you can enjoy this happily lit tree with tons of colorful holiday lights!

Candy Cane Lane
Since 1958, every house on Candy Cane Lane has been attractively decorated for each holiday season. This display of lights is worth a special visit and has a steady stream of car loads of people enjoying the holiday display. It’s recommended to start visiting any night from 5pm – 10:30pm, starting November 26th, 2022 to January 1, 2023. See more information here.
Christmas Place
The Christmas Place has been one of Kansas City’s top neighborhoods to visit for Christmas lights for the last 17 years! A double cul-de-sac of 23 homes which turns into a winter wonderland each Thanksgiving evening, giving pleasure to the thousands who drive through each night until New Years. Paulie's Penguin Playground
The Penguin Playground is worth visiting during the daytime. But for full impact, you will want to visit this Christmas display after dark. Find yourself restless during your light tour? Plan to get out, stretch your legs, and walk through this amazing display! The playground is open Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day. Visiting the Penguin Playground is free, though you may leave a contribution to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. See more information here.
Altasciences Animated Lights
This display (formerly known as Vince & Associates) of over 200,000 LED lights is synchronized to music and is a major holiday attraction in the Kansas City area. This display is expected to open on November 24th. Stop by 103rd & Metcalf in Overland Park to see it. The Emmanuel Baptist Church across the street will give you the best view. Tune your radio to channel 95.5 FM to enjoy the show!
Sar-Ko Aglow Light Display (walking light tour)
The unique aspect of Sar-Ko Park is the beautiful walking light tour! It’s a great opportunity to get out and stretch your legs during any light tour. The SAR-KO AGLOW Lighting Ceremony will be held on December 2nd, 2022 at 6pm. The park stays lit through Jan. 16, 2023. See more information here.
Ultimate Lights on Farmstead Lane
The Ultimate Lights on Farmstead Lane is a holiday light show at the Deanna Rose Farmstead! Synchronized to your favorite holiday and movie music, tune in to 90.5 FM. The show will run from November 24, 2022 to January 8, 2023. See more information here.

Holiday Luminary Walk
The Holiday Luminary Walk has become the traditional kick-off of the holiday season for many families. Kids love the Gnome and Fairy Villages, the colorful Children’s Garden and visiting with Santa. Grown-ups appreciate the quiet walk through the winter woods and the many musical performances. Runs 5pm – 10pm from Nov 25-26, and Dec 2-3, 8-10, and 15-17, 2022. Powell Gardens Festival of Lights
The Festival of Lights at Powell Gardens combines holiday light displays with beautiful botanical creations to create a fun “Christmas festival of lights”. There’s many different shows and displays throughout the garden, including a tunnel of lights! This attraction is only open on Wednesday through Sunday from 4pm – 10pm each week, and starts on November 10, 2022 to December 30, 2022. See more information and pricing here.
Swope Park Winter Magic
Winter Magic at Swope Park (near the Kansas City Zoo) is a premiere drive through Christmas light experience. Featuring the longest light tunnel in the MidWest, visitors will drive through nearly one mile of mesmerizing holiday lights. This attraction is open from 5pm – 11pm, and runs from November 3rd, 2022 to January 1st, 2023. See more information and pricing here.
Union Station Indoor Light Display
The Holiday Reflections walk-thru village inside Union Station has an entry fee of $7 per person, but it truly is a must-see experience that includes Kansas City’s largest model train exhibit!
